new chances.. new beginnings..

we, filipinos are just too superstitious aren't we? every year we hear everyone saying that they'll change for the better. they say they'll change this and that.. the bad habits.. laziness etc etc..
but when we come to think of it, how many of us really hold on to those promises? my kuya said he'll stop smoking.. but it's been four years.. four new years.. four chances but he'll keep on saying that next month he'll stop nad the next month after that.. and it's new year again.. my mom even told him that she'll write him a check if only he'll stop.. i think he stopped for some time.. he got the check.. and after a few months he'll smoke again.. do we really change? hehe who knows?? we should just try and try until we finally get things right.. im still hopeful..
i'm not really into new year's resolutions myself.. because i think i might not really fulfill them.. so i just hope.. i strive.. i dont like to make promises.. unless im sure i can achieve them.. i play safe?? less pressure..
anyway.. ill try to be more patient.. less sulking.. whining.. complaining.. :D i just wanna be happy.. anything goes.. when i have problems.. when i worry and when i feel sad, i just think of this idea: if there is a problem and i can do something about it, i do something bout it and do my best to make things better.. but if i cant do anything bout it.. if it's beyond my control then why should i still worry, right?? it would only be a waste of time. just let it be.. let it die on its own.. :p eventually it'll get tired.. life changes.. things change. ill just let time fix it for me.
ok so i realized i wanted to try attending victory church.. it's a born again church.. i remember my cointerns during our medtech internship.. we were four in a group and one of us was a converted born again christian.. during our 24 hour duty we''ll listen to this born again station. i can say that it was really peaceful.. my mom used to attend their worship in greenhills san juan.. and she'll see kc concepcion, gary v and sharon cuneta(local celebs) there.. she didnt go there to see the stars FYI.. hehe.. she used to ask me to come with her but i never did.. now i want to try to go there.. anyway i dont want to be converted.. im happy being a catholic its just that i want to nourish my spirituality more.. i dunno.. something inside just tells me that i should go.. and i think ill go. maybe one of these days.. this new year.. :D

happy new year everyone!

Beyond magic…

When I was a kid I used to believe that Christmas is the time of the year when everyone should be happy. It’s like an obligation for everyone to be worry-free. Disappointments, troubles and worries supposedly subside and everyone’s in a state of tranquility. More like a pause button in a movie player where you can suspend everything for even just a week. I have never come across the reason why I believed that holidays make people like sand on the beach. Everyone leaves a mark yet with each flow of water along its shores, it erases everything, making the sand defiant. How I wish I still believe in this up to the present. It would somehow make me more hopeful that there’s magic every Christmas time. Now as my eyes begin to see the light or should I say the truth, how unfortunate it is to say that Christmas is not anymore that aroma that once inhaled, makes us feel better. On the contrary, Christmas has become a burden to some. Others are not acting out what they truly feel. They reconcile just for the sake of Christmas without even feeling the need to reconcile. People spend much just to say Christmas is fun and some demand gifts making Christmas an excuse for them to have new stuffs. I’m not washing my hands, and I admit I belong to the guilty ones. It just makes me think that sometimes, we overdo everything because of the many beliefs we have regarding Christmas and the holidays in general. What we lack is the sense of understanding why we do these things. Now, I have come to realize that it is the people around us who can make us smell that aroma and our attitude towards the many situations makes you feel like the sand- resistant, defiant, and unaffected, truly magic beyond the holidays.

FYI: According to the Guinness Book of World Records and magic periodicals David Copperfield is believed to be the highest paid magical performer.

Learn how to talk...

Medical students, enhance your communication skills. Are you eloquent, expressive, fluent, articulate, and persuasive? If not, you should probably improve and develop your talking to boost your confidence and your career. According to SDN,

"...Physicians with poor communication skills are more likely to be sued. They are more likely to be disciplined by the medical board. They may not receive as many professional referrals from colleagues or word-of-mouth referrals from patients...."

Just around the corner…

Christmas is the time of the year when everyone gets REALLY busy. Here in the Philippines, it’s the season when everyday we hear Christmas songs over the radio and in shopping malls, everyone’s carrying a plastic bag or some sort of gift, traffic jam’s the worst, everyone’s in a hurry and people become better individuals. For people like me, it’s simply the season to rest and somehow recharge, not to mention a time to be with family and spent more time with friends. (not that we don’t have time for those things) But since internship, I have come to realize that there will be Christmases where I won't be able to spend time much with family and friends and that holidays for others will just be ordinary work days for me. (apart from the many partying and gift giving) It makes me think about what people say that Christmas is for kids. It never crossed my mind before but when I try to recall the Christmases I had as an adult, somehow I begin to ask myself when was the last time I’ve been very excited about Christmas. Don’t get me wrong I’m not Uncle Scrooge its just that my Christmases for the past years were not actually the Christmases I would be looking forward to when I was a kid. Blame it to internship, they say! O well, maybe it’s just part of growing up when you realize that Santa’s your parents in disguise. Giving you gifts when you’ve done a good job and reprimanding you when they found out you’ve been naughty. But nevertheless, I still believe that Christmas is for everyone. So for now since Christmas is just around the corner, let me greet everyone happy holidays!!! May we all have a good recharge!

FYI: A few workmates suggest as it's Christmas you might like to 'choraulien' with them, what are they suggesting?
Carolling!!!!!!
At Christmas everyone sings carols, whether they have a voice or not. Originally the word meant to dance to a flute, but over the years the meaning has altered.

Aloha

Welcome into our humble blog. LOL.

This is my first post in our group blog. It is a privilege to administer this blog and I am happy that there are people who are interested also in sharing their opinions and ideas regarding medicine and non-medical topics.

Blogging's already a part of my life and when I introduced it to some of my medical student friends, they agreed on joining a community in the net such as this, blogging. Many of us are really good writers but doesn't have an outlet to release these common compassion in writing. I am not really a good writer but since I love to write and share ideas and knowing that there are people who are also interested in sharing their thoughts, I created this blog to make their thoughts shared and expressed. Through this blog, I hope that these abilities of my friends would be shared and inspire many bloggers.

As medical students, I can say that our life is harder than any other non-medical individuals. We have hectic schedules, sleepless nights, tons of readings, loads of hard exams, toxic activities and due deadlines. What we will write here are mostly products of released energies, can be good ones or bad ones; so if some of the posts are quite offending, as early as now we would like to apologize.

I hope that this blog will inspire many individuals. Happy posting guys!
